The Federation seeks to:

• Creation of a regional resource for media professionals
• Protection of journalists and media professionals through unification
• Establishment of a regionally accepted code of ethics
• Promote cultural understanding and preservation
• Encourage and support women, youth and minorities in media
• Provide a resource for learning, networking and discussions
• Recognize outstanding media professionals in the region
• Organize publishers, broadcasters and producers for better management
